English Week

|
I've mentioned on the previous post that UiTM's English Club will organize English Week. It's next week. And they've planned a lot of interesting activities. I'll just write down the list of activities that I can remember.
  • Public Speaking Competition (I wonder who'll be participating this voluteeraly)
  • Boogle Game Competition
  • Spelling Bee
  • Singing Competition - Individual, duo, choir and band
  • Drama
Interesting. Pretty much. I'll be participating in the Spelling Bee. (Adib, don't start with me about the Akeelah and the Bee movie irony. I'm well aware.) It's not like the American style Spelling Bee, where the panel will give you a word, and you have to spell the word out. This is a bit different. You still have to spell the word thou, it's a spelling competition. The first contestant will be given an alphabet, he/she have to spell out a word starting with the alphabet. The next contestant has to spell out a word using the last alphabet on the word spelled by the previous contestant. Confused? Well, let me try to simplify it.

Panel : Spell out a word starting with the letter "A"
Contestant 1 : Anything - A. N. Y. T. H. I. N. G.
Contestant 2 : Green - G. R. E. E. N.
Contestant 3 : Nicotine - N. I. C. O. T. I. N. E.

And so on. Until a student crack. I think they'll time us. Oh, we can't use the word that has been used in that round. It is challenging! You have to be a quick thinker, or you're out.

Spelling Bee will not be the only thing I'll participate in. Drama. Yes, I'm participating in the Drama Competition. But not as one of the actor or actress thou. Didn't I tell you that I prefer to be behind the scene? Well, I'm going to be the director and script writer. There could only be 8 people in a drama. And we all have to be from the same course and group. If only we can form our own group, I would've take Krissy in. She has always been my heroin in all my silly little play.

Anyway, I'm going to use my old script - "Twisted Tales". It is sort of a spoof for all fairy tales. Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Shrek. Yes, Shrek. I know it's not really a fairy tales. Maybe it is, modern fairy tales. If there's such thing. Oh well. I'm not in the mood to write a new play, not with all the assignments that still piling on my table. So, I'll just use the old one. I don't care if Miss Delia recognized it from last semester. It's not like I've used it on a competition before, anyway.

Well, the competition is next friday, 28th February. We have two weeks to prepare. We have to set up the props and everything. My cast members better cooperate, or else!

u can't imagine me losing because you never win when ur opponent is me. And all we do is "arguing". It's different from spelling, scrabbling, boggling or drama playing. Waaaayy, different!

But yeah, I'll win. ;p
