The Twilight Saga

|
Yes! I finally finished reading all four of them. All FOUR! I read the first one, "Twilight", a while back. When Viv insisted Intan to buy and read it, and Intan of course told me to buy and read it instead, so I can tell her everything about it later. I was looking for another author to read anyway, since I've read all works by Cecelia Ahern, Dorothy Kroomson and Sophie Kinsella. Viv was so insistant, I believe that it's good. Well, after reading "Twilight", I'm in love with the protagonist, Edward Cullen. (I'm very much aware that the actual protagonist is Bella Swan, but she's lame.)

Not longer after I've read "Twilight", the movie version of it finally showing in cinema. Since I couldn't explain it well to Intan, we went to see the movie. Intan, of course, was in love with Edward Cullen as well. We even called Viv as soon as we stepped out of the cinema to tell her how much we love the story. (And Edward. We even childishly argued who deserved Edward more between the three of us.) For those who haven't read the novel version of the story, like the movie very much. For those who have read it, is very much disappointed with it. There's a lot of changes been made. A lot of scenes been cut. Scenes that let us know that Edward is a mindreader and Bella is an accident prone. Alice can see the future. Scenes where Edward and Bella having dinner (or at least, Bella is) after Edward saved her. Disappointed that the casting crew didn't able to find a more beautiful guy to play the role Edward. Not that George Pattison is not handsome, from the description in the book, Edward Cullen is supposed to be much more beautiful.

Afterward, I've been trying to find the sequels to this book in all major bookstores. "New Moon", "Eclipse" and "Breaking Dawn". But they're always out of stock. I can't blame them. Since the movie's came out, the series became more and more popular. I didn't give up thou. And Viv found an early draft of Edward version of "Twilight" leaked online. "Twilight" is written from Bella's perspective. "Midnight Sun" is written from Edward's perspective. It's a draft, so it is not done. It is much more exciting than "Twilight" because Edward's a mindreader, so there's more insight on the other characters in this story. Such as Jessica is actually a hypocrite, Angela is nothing but pure kindness, Mike Newton is obsessed with Bella. Etc. Etc. Viv warned me before she gave me the copy of "Midnight Sun", that it is not complete, and I will be disappointed. Well, it's more like frustrated actually, not able to read the end of it. Viv said that Stephenie Meyer refused to continue writing it, because it has leaked. Well, at least I know the truth about some characters.

In the "New Moon", there's less of Edward in it. Instead, there's more of Jacob Black. (I'm arguing in my head whether or not to tell you about this book. And I decided that you should read it by yourself to find out.) And in the next series, Jacob Black seems to be head to head with Edward Cullen. Jacob Black has finally believe the myth about vampires and werewolves. And there's more vampires in the next series. Much more vampires. Multiple covens. There's even a vampire version of royal family. Stephenie Meyer has a wild imagination.

Obviously, Bella is an accident prone, so we can always trust her to mess things up. Edward's seem to thing she's jinxed, too. Because no matter how hard he tries to save and make things better for Bella, there's always trouble waiting ahead. As the only human, (excluding their schoolmates) Bella is the one who can't make any decision. She can't choose between Edward and Jacob. Well, she chose Edward, and Jacob is making it difficult. But she didn't really let Jacob go. Opps. I'm revealing the story line already. Better stop it.

Anyway, I didn't get to buy the other books. Seeing its always out of stock. So, I've downloaded them. Yes, I know, illegal. But what else can I do? I can't find them on shelves anywhere! I can be very attached to something I read. Once I started reading, I can't seem to have the will to put the book down. Or in this case, my laptop off. So, it took me less than a week to finish reading all three titles. Yes, less than a week. (I know Adib think I'm crazy.) How could you not? It's so exciting, and I couldn't bear the anxiety and anticipation. So, I continue reading as long as I can. Luckily I'm too lazy to bring my laptop everywhere, and I couldn't possibly use them in class. If not, I'll bet I can finish reading them in 3 days. A title a day.

So, all of you who haven't read the Twilight Saga yet, you've missed out a lot. Go grab the book now! (Including you, Adib)

P/S : Edward Cullen, Bite Me!
