Heavy Rain

|
Last night, there were a heavy rain pouring down Kota Kinabalu. With lightning flashing every minute. Flooding the streams and rivers. Even the stream opposite Queen Elizabeth Hospital was almost flooding into the main road. It was pouring so heavy that I couldn't see the road when I was driving. I have never experienced rain this heavy. Probably this is what they call 'Storm'. Well, if not, it is close enough.

Anyway, I was suppose to go back to the campus last night. Because my first class today started at 8am. I didn't want to wake up an hour earlier and rush to class. I rather spend the night in campus. Well, since it was raining heavily, I didn't.

What I did was, stayed in Viv's place until the rain ease off. Yeah, I forgot to mention that I was with Viv and her family during the rain. I was there to send Intan's photo album. Viv wants to borrow some pictures of her during their childhood. Apparently, she didn't capture much photos during her childhood because she was an ugly kid. (She was not ugly, but just not a cute kid. But look how gorgeous she turn out to be! A real life ugly duckling.) She needed them for the slides. For her wedding reception this weekend.

Well, as usual, if I go to her place, somehow I manage to forget the time (or be forgotten by my parents) and stayed there longer than expected. After sending them back to their house, (we went to Sutera Harbour to meet the party planner), I wanted to head back to my parents' house. Then I realized, no one's home at that time, and I didn't switch the lights on. There's no way I'm going back to that house in that weather. Even if it's just 8 houses away. It's not that I was scared, (okay, I probably was.), but a dark empty house next to a half hectare (or is it acre? whichever smaller, i guess.) jungle can be intimidating.

Luckily I didn't went back and waited in Viv's because the situation turned from bad into worse. The electricity's out. Imagine me in the house, alone, in the dark, during stormy rain. I would probably have drive myself back to Viv's. I told Baba that I couldn't bear to drive myself back to the house. He told me just to wait there till the rain ease off. And he'll send me to campus tomorrow, instead. He doubt that the road to my campus isn't underwater yet. Turn out he was right. Because today, one of my classmate said she couldn't enter the campus due to the bridge to our campus was underwater. She had to come early morning today instead.

Anyway, I learn to play Black Jack from Feizal last night. The electric's out last night. We couldn't do anything else at his bachelor pad. So, with a few candles to light up the table, we played Black Jack. We as in, Feizal, Ika, Meldon, myself and Cerys. Yes, Cerys. My 9-years-old niece know how to play Black Jack. And even better than me. Oh, don't worry. We weren't gambling. We did play with chips, but they were worthless. Feizal couldn't possibly gamble with us. He may be fun, he's not THAT irresponsible. It was okay. I played a few rounds before I went back to my parents' house.

And today I woke up at 6 just to come here (campus). Darn.
