Political Journal

Well, here's my third political journal. I finally finished it a few weeks late, but better late than never, right?

Date of entry: 25 January 2009
Title: Barack Obama – “The Change We Need”
Source: Wikipedia; Barackobama.com; TheWorldWantsObama.org;

Barack Obama has broken the racial barrier when he won the US presidential election last November. Last Tuesday, he has taken the oath of presidential office in the steps of US Capitol in front of thousands of supporters who came to see him inaugurated. Sweeping aside the racial barriers now seems truly possible and the White House will soon belong to the Blackberry-Facebook generation – where everyone participates.

For me, perhaps even the world, the new presidency is almost as inspiring. It is just the relief of seeing the back of George Bush, whose approval rating has plumbed historic lows. Obama personifies a more united society, one that will take a more global view as it tackles some of the most pressing problems of our age. He is the man who blends race and an international childhood into a single smart yet cool package. Yet he seems somehow like a regular man who cherishes his family.

Under Obama, Barack will make changes in the administration as he has promised. The changes he makes will be affecting the whole world as America is a veto country. His promise to deport back all US Troopers by 2010 is a step toward peace. I personally think Obama will be able to reestablish America’s image as a land of liberty and freedom. I truly one person has the power to change the world, and Obama has arrived in the spotlight with crucial timing. With his power as the president of US, he can make the world a better place to stay. And probably ends the wars that been the headlines of the world’s news, starting from Iraq War. It is the start of a fresh new beginning.

US Foreign Policies will be changed as well. Obama’s administration is much differs from Bush’s. And his international background, being raised in Asia, would probably help the growth of Asian economics. He may help Asian countries to build & strengthen their economies. He may as well be able to save General Motors, which has been declared bankruptcy under Bush’s administration. It will be difficult, as Bush had left America in a distress condition. But nothing is impossible in this world. With the supports that Obama has, his vision is achievable.

Barack Obama understands that the political and economic development of Asia means a more peaceful and stable Asia: Obama will make support for the aspirations of the people of Asia for human rights, democracy, and good governance a tenet of his regional foreign policy. The people of Asia, like people all over the world, cherish the ability to raise their children free from fear and want and to have a say in their own futures.

In other words, the United States is becoming like a religion, an icon, a hope and in fact, that hope starting to come true in Asia. Barack Obama’s key slogan during his presidential campaign was “Change We Can Believe In.” Asians are waiting for that change, Mr. President.

Now, I have to finish the rest of my slightly delayed assignments.
