Han's Carmart has organized another auto show! Taking place in the architecturally beautiful KK Times Square, this event will divided the participating vehicles into four main categories: VIP series, Open Saloon, K-Car and Motorcycle/Scooter.

Have you ever been to an auto show before? If you never did, well, don't miss this event. Expect to see creatively modified vehicles, awesome paint jobs, superb sound systems, and sleek designs.

Women's Day Bazaar

I just came back from my aunt's place and I found out another bazaar is taking place this month.

Wow, I didn't realised there's so many events actually going on in our sleepy town of Kota Kinabalu. I guess its just a matter of knowing where and when to find them.

According to her, a women organization which she is involved in (I couldn't be sure whether it is SWEPA, PUSPANITA or PENIAGANITA) has invited to be one of the honorary guest for the launching of the bazaar which is held in conjunction with the Women's Day.

Unfortunately, she has to decline as she won't be in town at that time.

From the conversation, it is said that there will be a lot of stalls being set up. Over 50 lucky draws will be given away. And there'll be a 4KM "1Malaysia Family Walk". I'm sure with such activities being planned, there will be entertainments too.

Women all over Kota Kinabalu. This event is for you!

Higher Education Fair

SPM is just around the corner, isn't it? I just noticed.

This brings back memories. But I'm not going to talk about that.

Of course, whenever SPM is getting near, there will always be Education Fairs to aid the graduating high school students choose their path for their future. Starting by finding the right college that offers the course of choice.

I found out that there'll be a higher education fair held this month. Here's the details.

Flea Market

I love watching home improvement or makeover shows on TV. Especially those that are challenged to do in a very specific and tight budget and time. The designers will tend to be innovative and creative, by finding cheap and bargain items in flea markets or yard sales and start to improving them and using them in a way that sometimes our simple minds couldn't think of.

After watching those shows, I will always complaint to mom that there's no flea market in Kota Kinabalu, only rombengan that sells bundles of (used?) clothes. Some other usual complaint by me is "Why is there any flea markets or yard sales in KK?" "We have to buy everything in retail price!" or "Gaya Street is not flea market as they mostly sell handicraft."

Yes, yes. I know. I complains. A lot.

Good news! There'll be a bazaar/flea market in Kota Kinabalu! And it's going to be indoor, which means fully airconded!

It is said that it will be like the flea markets I always see on TV. Well, not as elaborate and huge. It is just starting out, so the stalls are limited. But that's good enough for me! And the products will be at bargain price, that is what important!

I'm aware I sounded like one of those moms that hunt for discount coupons and bargains but I don't care.

I don't expect to see furniture yet. But I expect to find clothes, accessories, plants, food and artworks.

Oh, did I mention my friend will be there too? He'll be promoting his photography, design and print business, InsideArts.

The bazaar will be held on 14 & 15 November, at the Ground Floor, Lintas Station, Lintas Plaza. Kota Kinabalu people has to know where this is. If not, you need to revoke your citizenship. It is the same building as RHB Bank and 7-Eleven, and in the same area as Yo-Yo Cafe & Salim Restaurant.

Darn, I'm so excited that I can't focus on my revision for my exams!

2nd Borneo International Trade Fair (BITF)

I first know about this event from my cousin, who is one of the designer for one of local's HipHop streetwear, LSW, which will be one of the participant of Mini-XHBT: Sabah Creative Cluster in BIFT.

I've always been an exhibition-goer. Started by being dragged by mom, now the roles reversed. Why? I'm not sure. Maybe because I like to know what's new with today's market. Maybe its the promotion and special showcasing. Maybe I just like the crowds. I couldn't tell for sure.

What I do know is, BIFT is a must-go in my list. It is a platform that will showcase the Sabah State Government's ongoing efforts in the implementation of the Sabah Development Corridor (SDC) as a thrust to spur investments and developments on the promoted sectors under the SDC which are agriculture, tourism, logistic services and manufacturing. Participants that are expected in this event include companies from China, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Phillipines, Brunei, Vietnam, Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia and other countries. Oh, just imagine what we can find there: the food, the product, the culture. Best of all, the promotions! (Especially on the last day of the event)

I'm particularly interested on the Mini-XHBT: Sabah Creative Cluster. Sabahan entrepreneur and talents are gathered to showcase their artworks in various creative fields (music, fashion, photography, graphic design, paintings, films and CGIs). They are introducing Street Arts to the crowds. Now this is more like it. Finally, something that encourage entrepreneurial skills to youngsters to boost their talents and love in the creative industry.

Among the activities that you could engage in MINI-XHBT are short film screening, fashion shows by aspiring local young entrepreneurs and Fashion Design students, and Street Art demonstrations such as mini-acoustic performance, silkscreen T-shirt printing demonstration and mini-grafitti demonstration.

Surely, after knowing this, you don't want to miss out. So, the schedules are as follows:

Ka'amatan

The word Ka'amatan is derived from the root word 'tomot', a Kadazandusun term for harvest. Thus, Ka'amatan refers to the paddy-harvesting period, which involves a series of traditional rituals culminating finally to the Ka'amatan Festival.

Over the years, the Ka'amatan Festival has evolved and transformed into an epitome expression of the multi-cultural souls of the indigenous peoples of Sabah. Through the month of May, Ka'amatan celebrations are held annually at the family, village, district and State levels.

Kota Kinabaly City Tadau Ka'amatan Carnival 2009 will be held 14-16 May 2009 at Lintasan Deasoka (Gaya Street), Kota Kinabalu. The 3 days district level celebrations is organized by the Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) and activities are planned.

I can promise you that Umobile's booth will be the most happening, most fun, and cheerful booth on the block! There will be big bikes for shows, too!

A Day With Mum

It's Sunday. Of course, I spent it with Mum. My Sunday is Mum's day. The reason I'm still stuck in Kota Kinabalu; so that I can accompany her. So, at least I have to spare a day for her. It's not like I have any other choice.

My mum is in property development. She rarely miss any exhibition or seminar relating to it. There's IPEX, which I think stands for Internation Property Exhibition, in Sabah Trade Centre. It's boring, of course. But I'm used to it. Thanks to Mum. As usual, we took every brochure from every booth. Mum's research data of the competitors. I think it's bloody pointless anyway. Because Mum probably going to refer them for one month only, then she'll put them in the corner of her office, and let them collect dust.Well, there's one interesting thing there. The Edible Architecture Contest. It actually exist in Sabah, let alone Malaysia. I thought I'll only be able to see them online through the monitor of my laptop. Or when I visit a western country. Let me show you some of the pictures of the creation by Malaysian students. Can you believe the first prize is RM 1500.00!? Wow! And some of these "buildings" are actually pretty impressive, and similar to the real ones. And 100% edible. Well, I'm not sure about the edible part. But they're 100% made of food products.
