uKimono

If you have the privilages and time for television lately, surely you have seen this commercial by OSIM, endorsed the pop group, S.H.E., to promote their latest product, uKimono.

When this commercial is on, I felt fat. Especially during the part where they show you a clip of flat stomach, which suddenly turn flabby.

Damn, that's a direct insult to me! I know I haven't exercised -at all- and no longer active in sport. This commercial make me want to do two things:

1. Start exercising again. Or at least, get back into sport.

2. Buy uKimono.

I'm more tempted to do the latter, as it is easier. I know, I'm damn lazy.

Vanity at its best

No, I didn't meant myself.

Today is one of my usual good Sunday. Woke up around 10 in the morning, watch some TV show for a while before taking a long shower. Then, the usual Sunday lunch with mom. Today's Hyatt's turn to be blessed with our presence. The food was good, so was the people (both the employees and the hotel guests *wink*). Oh, forgot to mention that my aunt joined us too.

After a long fulfilling lunch, we went around town. Just wasting our time, checking out the development. What's new and all. We even went all the way to Kaison, Putatan. Afterward, we hang out for a bit at my aunt's place.

There, I called one of my friends, after all, I've been so busy with my own life that I didn't have time for them. We were talking for a while, catching up with everything we'd missed. Then, she mentioned something that got me laughing so hard, my mom could hear it all the way inside the house.

Apparently, someone think I care about their every actions and well-being. Well, at least the person is right about my feelings toward them - that I don't like them. That's true. But for me to tell my friend not to contact the person, just for that (and maybe influenced by another incident with another person I'm related to), that's just absurd, doesn't it?

I don't like the person to begin with. Why would I even bother about it then? Seriously, don't flatter yourself. I don't care. I don't care about you. I don't care what's going on with you. I don't care what happened between you and whoever you are in contact with. I don't care if my friend still contact you or not. I have better things to do, than bothering myself with your updates and problems. For instance, right now, my minds keep wandering to what clothes should I bring to my vacation.

Well, thank you for making my day. I thought I was paranoid. You're worse.

P.S.: Oh, I do care about one thing thou: That you took advantage of my friend's kindness.

P.P.S.: Wow! Writing this short post took me longer than I thought. Need to learn to focus. But this just doesn't seem to worth my focus.

Perplexing Human Behavior

I once heard someone said that people is the hardest subject to study. And its true, because everyone is different in every way. And we can never be sure what to expect from people.

However, we can always predict their future behavior as people seems to follow specific patterns when it comes to certain things.

These couples of weeks, I've asked myself a few questions.

Why people tend to crumble and capable to do anything to save themselves in a sticky situation?
How could someone who grows up and further their studies in the same city experience culture shock?
Why people brags about the things they do (even when its not suppose to be proud of) and exploits others just to prove that they really know their stuff?
Why do people keep acting as if they're innocent as a white sheet when the truth is they're nastier than shit?

Oh, obviously, these questions rotate around the people around me. If they're reading this, and not notice, I have nothing more to say then. You can close this blog now, as this will be a long LONG post.

I understand that people will always think of themselves first before anything else. I do the same too. But to sell someone out in the process, while you're supposed to be in the mess together? I never force any of you into anything, you were willingly (and eagerly, I must add) signed the letter yourself. You had a choice. You read the letter. And when someone threaten you a bit, you backed out, one by one, in front of me. Fine, I can accept that. Its understandable. You heard every single word he said, as much as I do. So, its on your conscience, not mine. Because I stood my ground, especially when he started to get a little too personal and insulted OUR parents. Yes, our. Just remember, he used profanity to describe your parents, and you just show your back on your parents. Oh, and I know those tears and apologies were not sincere. Because I saw with my own two eyes, the expressions, the reactions on all of your faces as soon as you walk out that door. Seriously, do you feel any remorse? On anything? At all? And today, you didn't want to come and meet the person who probably can saves all of our asses from the bloody mess? Well, at least you shows up, even though you were half an hour late. This shows how much you actually care about the whole mess. And I thought you were better than this. Oh well, it doesn't matter what I think. As long as you're happy with the way you are.

I've asked myself, over and over and over again. How could someone experience culture shock if they've been in the culture all their lives? Imagine this situation, you live in Kota Kinabalu, which is not much of a city to begin with, then you further your studies in UiTM, which located outside the township (and in a pretty much secluded area), and suddenly, you're experiencing culture shock. How does that even possible? Oh, don't use your parents' relationship as an excuse. EVERYONE has a family problem. It's a matter of how you carry yourself. Your sisters are doing fine, and they're in a bigger, more seductive, city, while you're here, in a sleepy town. What is your excuse then? They experience the same thing as you do, and has more temptation in that metropolitan city, but they manage to resist it. How about you? The "Oh, my parents are divorced" thing is not a valid excuse. You're not alone. Your parents are not the only ones divorcing in this world. Statistic said 3 out of 4 marriage fails. Just be grateful it wasn't a nasty divorce, and your parents are still friends. Worst of all, you're all grown up when this happens. Oh, just a reminder, looks is nothing compared to a good heart. So, you're pretty. I admit. And you obviously knows it (as you said it out loud yourself). But that's not your ticket to go around playing other people's heart. Luring and deceiving them into falling for you. Yes, deceiving, as you were lying about yourself. Then, you left them high and dry (literally, or maybe you didn't) for their acquaintance. Your dream is to be pursued by guys. Okay, never mind, that's every girl's dream. You want them to fight for you. Sure, the situation looks so romantic in movies. The difference between you and the heroins in the movies is, you're doing this knowingly and enjoying every bits of the moments. You're taking advantage over the blindness of love, of people that actually care about you. You lie, you cheat, you stole, you hurt. How long are you going to keep up with this charade? The truth will eventually reveals itself. And when that happens, no one can help you.

Writing this just frustrate me a little more. (Okay, that's an understatement.) I'll continue to elaborate more on the last two questions in the next post.

Happy Reading! (Or maybe not)

You Know Its True

Random thoughts from people our age…

1. I wish Google Maps had an “Avoid Ghetto” routing option.

2. More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can’t wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that’s not only better, but also more directly involves me.

3. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong.

4. I don’t understand the purpose of the line, “I don’t need to drink to have fun.” Great, no one does. But why start a fire with flint and sticks when they’ve invented the lighter?

5. Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you’re going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you’re crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk.

6. That’s enough, Nickelback.

7. I totally take back all those times I didn’t want to nap when I was younger.

8. Is it just me, or are 80% of the people in the “people you may know” feature on Facebook people that I do know, but I deliberately choose not to be friends with?

9. Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn’t work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or FAQ’s. We just figured it out. Today’s kids are soft.

10. There is a great need for sarcasm font.

11. Sometimes, I’ll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the f was going on when I first saw it.

12. I think everyone has a movie that they love so much, it actually becomes stressful to watch it with other people. I’ll end up wasting 90 minutes shiftily glancing around to confirm that everyone’s laughing at the right parts, then making sure I laugh just a little bit harder (and a millisecond earlier) to prove that I’m still the only one who really, really gets it.

13. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

14. I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.

15. I think part of a best friend’s job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

16. The only time I look forward to a red light is when I’m trying to finish a text.

17. A recent study has shown that playing beer pong contributes to the spread of mono and the flu. Yeah, if you suck at it.

18. Was learning cursive really necessary?

19. Lol has gone from meaning, “laugh out loud” to “I have nothing else to say”.

20. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

21. Answering the same letter three times or more in a row on a Scantron test is absolutely petrifying.

22. My brother’s Municipal League baseball team is named the Stepdads. Seeing as none of the guys on the team are actual stepdads, I inquired about the name. He explained, “Cuz we beat you, and you hate us.” Classy, bro.

23. Whenever someone says “I’m not book smart, but I’m street smart”, all I hear is “I’m not real smart, but I’m imaginary smart”.

24. How many times is it appropriate to say “What?” before you just nod and smile because you still didn’t hear what they said?

25. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars teams up to prevent a dick from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers!

26. Every time I have to spell a word over the phone using ‘as in’ examples, I will undoubtedly draw a blank and sound like a complete idiot. Today I had to spell my boss’s last name to an attorney and said “Yes that’s G as in…(10 second lapse)..ummm…Goonies”

27. What would happen if I hired two private investigators to follow each other?

28. While driving yesterday I saw a banana peel in the road and instinctively swerved to avoid it…thanks Mario Kart.

29. MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

30. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

31. I find it hard to believe there are actually people who get in the shower first and THEN turn on the water.

32. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.

33. I would like to officially coin the phrase ‘catching the swine flu’ to be used as a way to make fun of a friend for hooking up with an overweight woman. Example: “Dave caught the swine flu last night.”

34. I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t at least kind of tired.

35. Bad decisions make good stories

36. Whenever I’m Facebook stalking someone and I find out that their profile is public I feel like a kid on Christmas morning who just got the Red Ryder BB gun that I always wanted. 546 pictures? Don’t mind if I do!

37. Is it just me or do high school girls get sluttier & sluttier every year?

38. If Carmen San Diego and Waldo ever got together, their offspring would probably just be completely invisible.

39. Why is it that during an ice-breaker, when the whole room has to go around and say their name and where they are from, I get so incredibly nervous? Like I know my name, I know where I’m from, this shouldn’t be a problem….

40. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you’ve made up your mind that you just aren’t doing anything productive for the rest of the day.

41. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after DVDs? I don’t want to have to restart my collection.

42. There’s no worse feeling than that millisecond you’re sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

43. I’m always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

44. “Do not machine wash or tumble dry” means I will never wash this ever.
45. I hate being the one with the remote in a room full of people watching TV. There’s so much pressure. ‘I love this show, but will they judge me if I keep it on? I bet everyone is wishing we weren’t watching this. It’s only a matter of time before they all get up and leave the room. Will we still be friends after this?’

46. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Dammit!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What’d you do after I didn’t answer? Drop the phone and run away?

47. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

48. When I meet a new girl, I’m terrified of mentioning something she hasn’t already told me but that I have learned from some light internet stalking.

49. I like all of the music in my iTunes, except when it’s on shuffle, then I like about one in every fifteen songs in my iTunes.

50. Why is a school zone 20 mph? That seems like the optimal cruising speed for pedophiles…

51. As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists.

52. Sometimes I’ll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

53. It should probably be called Unplanned Parenthood.

54. I keep some people’s phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

55. Even if I knew your social security number, I wouldn’t know what do to with it.

56. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, hitting the G-spot, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey – but I’d bet my ass everyone can find and push the Snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time every time…

57. My 4-year old son asked me in the car the other day “Dad what would happen if you ran over a ninja?” How the hell do I respond to that?

58. It really pisses me off when I want to read a story on CNN.com and the link takes me to a video instead of text.

59. I wonder if cops ever get pissed off at the fact that everyone they drive behind obeys the speed limit.

60. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

61. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lites than Kay.

62. The other night I ordered takeout, and when I looked in the bag, saw they had included four sets of plastic silverware. In other words, someone at the restaurant packed my order, took a second to think about it, and then estimated that there must be at least four people eating to require such a large amount of food. Too bad I was eating by myself. There’s nothing like being made to feel like a fat bastard before dinner

You just have to admit that this is the most identifiable collection of thoughts you ever read.

The one who made up this list is obviously American. He or She didn't came up with all 62 themself; I noticed some of the quotes are taken from certain website such as MLIA.

At least 10 out of 62 of these thoughts crossed your minds before. Don't lie.

Why I Love Taylor Swift?

Here's my reason #147

Here's my reason #169

And the current top reason to love Taylor Swift's song?

To Rugayah "Kimberly" Puspawangi, I'll still choose T-Swizzle over M-Cyrus. Your words won't affect me. :P

Like "OMG! I haven't heard this song in AGES!" (try to imagine I saying that line with the bimbo kind of attitude)

Yeah, I haven't heard this song in ages. This song was popular when I was still in kindergarden! But somehow it popped into my head during my financial accounting class. (The lecturer were distributing our test result, I passed, suprisingly) My mind couldn't focus to anything this week. And this week, FOCUS is what I absolutely NEED. My assignments are still no where near finishing, and the dateline isn't going to wait for me.

Got to keep my priorities straight. Have to let go of certain things. Forgo.

Gotta Gotta Keep My Head In The Game!

Today is a memorable date (09.09.09). Everyone been buzzing over the numbers. Lots planned to have their weddings on this date; some successful, some couldn't due to overbooking of venue.

It doesn't mean that I'm going to enjoy today.

I'm an avid follower of PostSecret blog. Something about other people's sharing their deepest (sometimes darkest) secret anynomously to the world just attract me.

It soothes me to know that, we're not alone in this cruel, unfair world. Knowing that others too feel the same on certain things, others too make the similar choices and mistakes in life. That there's nothing with secrets.

However, the annoying part about PostSecret blog is, it updates only on Sunday.

Then, I stumble upon SecretZen's website.
And it is much better than PostSecret.

Firstly, SecretZen updates its photosecret EVERY 3 HOURS. Yes, every 3 hours. This is faster than MLIA! You can only imagine how many photosecrets they received in a day. Secondly, the images n wordings on the photosecrets are more dramatic and able to send the message by itself. Sometimes mysterious. You can only make assumptions what did the secretholder hid in his/her closet.

I can't elaborate any more. You just have to check it out yourself. Here's some of my favorite from the site.

P/S: Yaya, This is BETTER than PostSecret. Ch-ch-check it out now!

I found this article on The Star Online.

This is really sad and making me feel really angry to the ungrateful offspring.

SIN Chew Daily reported that an elderly couple in Singapore who gave up their duplex to their son ended up homeless after they were chased out of the house by the ungrateful offspring.

The couple now call the staircase of a school their home.

The man, who was named as Lim, was a manager before he retired. He had a son and a daughter who lived in Jurong, Singapore.

Relating his ordeal to a secretary of the school, Lim said he and his wife decided to give their duplex home to their son as a wedding gift about two years ago.

The couple thought that they could live in the house with their son. He, however, decided to sell the property for RM960,000 to buy another condominium. Lim and his wife were then sent off to live with the daughter.

After a year, the daughter decided that they were no longer welcome and banned them from touching her children.

The couple could not enter the house after their daughter changed the locks to the house.

The parents gave their home to the son as a wedding gift. But he wouldn't take them in, a year later, their daughter don't want them too. And she even banned them from seeing their grandchildren?! WTF?

Parents can be annoying, but they don't deserve this kind of treatment! After everything that they did and sacrificed for the children's sake, this is what they get?

There must be a law against this.

Note to self & parents: Don't change the name of the home ownership, EVER. Just put them in the will. That'll make sure you have security in your own home.

The Beginning & The End

The long semester break is coming to an end. And despite what most people feel about ending holidays, I'm glad its over. I'm turning into a slob; lie on my bed most of the time. I became so lazy that I even find it difficult to go to the bathroom. I'm in serious need for activities, for both my brain and body.

In fact, I've been looking forward to go back to the campus so much that, I've organized my room and redecorate it. Which, comes to think of it, is a bad decision, as I'm reluctant to leave this room for my dorm room. And Dad didn't make things easier, by deciding to install air-conditioner in my room the day before my class start. Intan and I asked for it for years, and he turned us down. Now that none of his kids stay in the house, he decided to put up one in every room. EVERY. Including my brothers' room, which only be occupied when they're here for Raya.

I'm leaving my room, where it's MINE, with a TV, one three closet full of beautiful clothes, hi-fi stereo, comfy bed(bought last year), new a/c system, new decorations and new door paint (repainted by me!). For a dusty room in campus, I share with a roommate, an old bed, a desk, a small wooden closet, on the 4th floor of the highest block. It's not a fair trade, don't you think?

Enough about my accommodation. Let's talk about class. As you may know, I'm currently taking Diploma in Public Administration. Where we do learn about politics, government, economy & office management. The problem is, I was on holiday. And to me, holiday means holiday. Where I do not care about anything. My mind is free. Which is not good if you're taking the same course as I do. I should have keep up with the news and current issues. Because that's what we'll be discussing in class. With new prime minister and all, I don't even know what going on in the local political world, needless to say about the other nations. Darn, I will have to do a lot of research to maintain my grades. I can't risk failing.

So, what courses will I be taking this semester?
  • ACC 114 - Accountancy
  • ECO 162 - Microeconomics
  • PAD 160 - Principles of Management
  • PAD 170 - Government & Politics
  • CTU 151 - Islamic Civilization & Thinking
  • BEL 260 - MUET Preparation Course
Oh, not forgeting HBU 126 - Brass Band, to fulfill my extra-curricular requirement.

Darn, can anyone help me up to speed with the current issues? Please?

I nailed it at cooking, literally.

I finally found something from the events in my real life to share it with you. As usual, it has been ages since I last wrote anything concerning my life in my blog. Heck, I hardly write anything at all.

So, note on the title. Cooking. Yes, I do cook when I have to. Girls gotta eat, and sometimes eating out can get old. So, mum and I decided we are going to have spaghetti bolognese for dinner tonight.

Mum came home earlier than usual from work today, so we can start preparing the ingredient together. After everything done, Mom started cooking outside, at the wet kitchen, while I was still in the dry kitchen, chopping onions and cheese. So, mum left me in peace to chop the ingredients in small pieces. Well, until she suddenly appeared out of nowhere, surprising me with her booming voice.

Realizing I cut myself, I ran upstairs to my room immediately, trying to find a band-aid. I can't show my cut to mum, as she developed a phobia of blood. After rampaging through my recently tidied and organized room, I finally found the box of band-aid. I rip them off with my teeth (seriously!) and was about to cover my finger with one, when I realize that my whole arm is covered with thick red blood. My blood. From a cut on my finger. In only 10 minutes top, my blood flowed so much.

I hear my mum calling my name from downstairs, and I panicked. She CANNOT see these blood! I rushed to the bathroom, and washed out my blood. After my finger and arm are cleaned, I noticed that I didn't cut my finger, I cut my nail. I cut my nail in half, but not all the way through. Under the flowing water from the tap, I can see my nail dangling from my index finger. And let me assure you, it wasn't a pretty sight.

I wrapped the band-aid on my finger (with the dangling nail intact!) and went back downstair, pretending nothing was harmed. Well, not really. My brown fiber band-aid changed color into deep red, thanks to my still flowing blood. So, I rushed back up to change my band-aid. And repeated it a few times. After the fifth change, I lay on my bed, with my bleeding finger, trying to decide whether I should go to the doctor or not. I lay there for about 10 minutes, before I finally call Intan to ask for her advise. Obviously, she screamed in my ears, telling me to get myself to the hospital A.S.A.P..

So, I finally told mum, keeping my finger out of her sight. I nervously told her that I'm going to drive myself to the doctor, and I'm gonna take her purse along with me as I don't think I have time to go to the ATM. I can almost see the color flushed off my mum's face as I told her. She only managed to say okay, and reminded me to get the receipt.

I didn't make it to the doctor, thou. I only manage to sit in the car for a while, before I went back inside the house to change the band-aid, realizing the bleeding stopped. That's good news for me, I hate doctors.

Owh, I forgot to mention, the cut didn't hurt. I just feel slight pressure on my finger. And after the bleeding, of course my hand felt numb.

I attempted to cook my favorite food, and this is what happened. Darn. I'm such a klutz! I guess I got to find a man who knows how to cook. Yummy!

Sapal

One may wonder what's the meaning of the post title - "sapal". What language is the word originated from? What the definition of the word? Well, to tell you the truth, I don't know. I'm not even sure if its even an actual word.

How did the word came to me? Well, all the credits belong to Krissy, whether she likes it or not. See, she came up with the word last night. By accident. And from her reactions last night, she hates it.

Okay, maybe you don't understand what the hell I'm trying to say, so let me break it up to you. Fel, Ari, Yan, Krissy and I often held conference chat on Yahoo! Messenger at night and treat it like a talkshow. It was my idea, and I usually play the role as the host of the show, just to spice things up a notch. We have different topic every night, its all depends on what's the latest buzz in our lives. Last night's topic was about Krissy's latest photoshoot sessions with F, A, & Y.

You probably still wonder, what the hell does all this have to do with the word "sapal"? Well, I believe it has everything to do with it. See, there's where it all started. It was actually a silly typing error on Krissy's side. She wanted to tell us that she'll be off the show for a moment because she has to answer a phone call. She was typing in hurry and typed "pasal" incorrectly - "sapal".

So, while Krissy was entertaining her caller. Fel and I wasn't being kind to her. We sort of cheated, as she wasn't there to defend herself. We started to mock her spelling error. Using the word "sapal" in every sentence in any way we can think off. It's started as Krissy's middle name. To her alter-ego's name. We used is as a noun, adjective, adverb, verb, conjunction & etc. Like I said earlier, in any way we can think off. All in Malay, of course.

Five minutes gone by, and she's still not back for the show. So, it started to turn ugly. I started the contest, "Who can use the most "sapal" word in a single sentence in Malay? and make most sense out of it". There's no rules, apart from it has to be in Malay, and we're allowed to change the word a bit by adding imbuhan to the original word "sapal". For example, menyapal, disapal, kesapalan, sesapalnya.

The result, as you can imagine, is hilarious. And Krissy is furious about it. She doesn't think it's funny. I'm pretty sure she's even more angry if she read this (and I know she's read this). I would like to post some of the sentences we came up with. But if I do, I don't think Krissy will ever forgive me if I did. Unfortunately for Krissy, I doubt that Fel and I will let this go easily. We haven't tried to use the "sapal" word in English yet. Sorry Krissy!

A loud bang on the door shook me off my dreamless sleep and on to the floor this morning. Surprised and confused, not to mention pain as I fell on my back hard. Immediately after composing myself, I opened the door, wondering what was the emergency for anyone to knock on the door so hard, only to found Mummy standing on the other side with a mug of coffee in her hand, who merely said, "Hantar Mama pergi airport."

My reactions to that was; to rush off to the toilet to wash my face and brush my teeth; to change my clothes; to get the car ready; and to place my mum's luggage in the trunks. I forgotten that she's going to Johor today, and didn't know what time was her flight; so I got ready so swiftly, thinking she's going to be late to the airport thanks to me. If you ask me, I'd say I handle things pretty well, considering I just woke up. (My close friends would know that I'm a cranky person if I'm woken up from my sleep) However, I did almost drove off without my mom in the commotion. Fortunately, I realized that she wasn't in the passenger's seat nor downstairs of the house. I went to her room, and found her sitting on her bed, watching TV.

Anyway, half an hour or so, she was ready to leave the house. On the way to the airport, she saw an ad on the billboard for the "Smiling Fish" sardines. She let out a chuckle and I asked what's so funny. Obviously, I didn't notice the billboard. She said, "Smiling Fish" only instead of reading it in English (smile-ling), she pronounced it "smi-ling fis", just like how your read it in Malay. I laughed, because I know exactly what she was thinking. You see, my brother Z used to pronounce it that way when we're kids.

It didn't take much to bring back old memories. My mum suddenly remember all the word he used to pronounce wrongly. Z used to call our old BMW car "B-M-da-da-u". Ha-ha. He always liked that car. Still does, I assume. That's not all, he also pronounce biawak (lizard) as "bini-awak" (which means, your wife.) I wish I could list down all the words here. But that would be a long list, and I have to refer to my mum. Oh, and he's going to hate me for it.

Z has always been an adorable kid. Adorable chubby kid. And a sweet brother. When we were younger, he was my closest siblings. (Intan was in her rebellious teenage phase) We always play together, and he always back me up. I assume he likes being the big brother, the sense of power to protect his baby sister. I still remember that one day, he refused to go to the kindergarden, because I will not have anyone to play with at home. Isn't it adorable? As a result, I followed my parents to send him to kindergarden everyday.

My mum and I had breakfast at the Asian Delight Cafe in Terminal 2. There we talked about our old memories; the hyperactive tomboy-glamour Intan; the preserved silent geeky N; the chubby cheeky Z; and me, of course, the curly haired shy girl who hid behind Mummy and frown every time anyone wants to get near her. We're a handful bunch of kids, all right. Intan alone is hard to handle.

Gosh, I miss being kids. And I miss my siblings. We may not be tight and keep in touch often, but we care about each other. Or at least I do. I can't wait to go to Kuala Lumpur and have our usual arguments.

Why Bali when you're already in Sabah?

I'm not writing about how Bali is much better than Sabah. In contrast, I'm writing why you should use your expense for your vacation in Sabah instead of any other islands or beaches in other places.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no different with you. I wanted to go to Bali. In fact, if it wasn't due to the swine flu (or Influenza A, as they want us to call it), I'd be packing for Intan's birthday gateway to Bali right this moment. To be honest, I'm still very upset about it. 5 days in Bali sans the parents. Only me & Intan, and a couple of friends. We'd be able to do anything we want (as long as our budget covers it, of course!) I was looking forward for it, it would be my first trip outside Malaysia without the parents. Ah, the freedom I longed for. Then, the pigs came a long and stomp on my hopes and dreams. How easily a dream can shatter.

Well, I'm not letting one small bump on the road ruin everything. If I can't go to Bali, I'll bring Bali to me. I'd make my own Bali-like experience right here in Sabah. Bali is an island, Sabah is surrounded by islands and the sea. How much different can it be? I probably can do much more here than in Bali. In addition, if I'm running out of budget, I can always run home and ask the parents for extra. (Well, in theory. I'm sure they are not keen on that idea.)

Like any other typical Sabahan, I was skeptical with my own idea. (Yes, my minds was arguing among themselves.) "Oh gosh, Sabah? But there's nothing here! Literally, nothing!" Well, it turns out, we're not doing a good job being a Sabahan. There's a lot we can do in Sabah. But (yes, there's a but) we just can't be expected to do it as the activities in Sabah are mostly outdoorsy and suitable for adrenaline junkie. Or they're more to cultural activities.

Anyway, I did a little research. After all, I need to present this to the parents so they'll approve on both; permission to go without them and the budget required. Obviously, they'll be impressed with my idea. But that still won't confirm that they'll agree to sponsor it. Never mind the budget, I can fork it out of my own account. The main problem is, getting their approval for me to go. The demerits of being the youngest is, the parents will be most protective of you. As if they are not overprotective and overbearing enough.
I always have a thing for beaches. So, it is predictable for me to search for a place surrounded by beach in Sabah. Which is pretty easy thing to do, and too many options to choose. What kind of a fool couldn't find a beach in Sabah? We're surrounded by them! So, since I live in Kota Kinabalu, I shortlisted the options to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park. The marine park is a cluster of islands comprising Pulau Gaya, Pulau Sapi, Pulau Manukan, Pulau Mamutik and Pulau Sulug. All only 10-20 minutes speedboat ride from the city.
Honestly, I do not know how to choose between the islands. They're all the same to me. And I'm sure they offer all the same services and activities. And I've only been to Pulau Manukan before, and that was a long while back. So, I list down everything that I, I meant, we want to do during the trip. Water sports (scuba diving, parasailing, banana boat, ...), overnight stay, bird watching, BBQ, photography (I'm not forgetting you, Krissy.) and whatever the island has to offer, we're up for it (just after we check with our wallet.) And when it comes to this, the Internet is not helpful at all. They only show the boat schedule, and the main attractions of the islands; but there's nothing about the rates, which is the most important in our budget planning.
I think I will choose to go to Pulau Sapi instead of the other four. Simply because I never been there; it has amazing texture of rocks around its beach; there's 5 kilometres of nature trails; and during low tide, we can walk to Pulau Gaya. Oh, no forgetting the most recorgnizable and well-known celebrity on the island, the giant monitor lizards. Usually they are ferocious carnivorous hunters, but it seems the lot on the island has gotten very tame, fat and lazy. Interesting! There's macaque monkeys, too! Imagine Krissy trying to get close and take pictures of them. She jumped across the room because she spotted a cockroach before. Is she going to jump across the island?
Since the Internet is not giving more information that I needed and wanted, I guess I have to do things the old fashion way: go to the main office and ask. Darn. I guess virtual reality is not everything. I'll keep you posted. Wish me luck on getting approval from the parents!

The Lesson I Learnt

You should be proud of me today. Why? I studied. No, I actually studied. No Guitar Hero, or any other form of entertainment out there that continuously luring me away from my responsibilities. Okay, maybe my handphone was buzzing non-stop. However, I studied for the paper I will be sitting this Sunday, which is CSC 134 - Computer & Information Processing.

For all of you who sits in the same class with me for this course, surely you noticed that I never come in to class with a book in my hand. Just papers and stencils. The only books you see me carrying into that class, would probably textbooks for the next class or some random novels. And you probably realize that the lecturer and I don't see things eye to eye. Truth to be told, I hate his way nazi way of teaching and vanity. He hates my guts for daring to argue with him. And he hates me even more for winning in most of the arguments. (And how did he reacts to this? By reducing my marks, of course. After storming out of the class. Yes, I was mean. I know.)

Anyway, I studied. I haven't been studying properly since the final examination season started. I was to busy for band rehearsal at Feizal's pad. Viv named the band "UR Majesty". Yes, she named our PS3 Guitar Hero: World Tour band. The point is, I studied. I read the textbook. What textbook? I just told you that I don't have the textbook the whole semester. Well, I do now. I just bought it on Tuesday. 5 days before the paper. And I only bought it after Viv told me I should. (She was worrying about my exams more than I do.) I just started reading the book today. I will not let the so-called lecturer has the satisfaction of failing me.

Okay, enough about him. It's not worth it. I started studying with the textbook I just bought 2 days ago this morning around 10.30 in the morning. And by the time I went out to buy my lunch from KFC nearby, (Home alone. I don't want to clean up after cooking.) I pretty much covers half of the content of the book already. And the book was pretty interesting, after all, I am pretty much a geek.

So, I was reading through Chapter 4 - The Components of System Unit, from the Discovering Computers 2009 - Complete Version, when I came across these paragraphs.

"Most connectors and ports are available in one of two genders: male or female. Male connectors and ports have one or more exposed pins, like the end of an electrical cord you plug in the wall. Female connectors and ports have matching holes to accept the pins on the male connector or port, like an electrical wall outlet."

"Sometimes, you cannot attach a new peripheral to the computer because the port on the system unit is the same gender as the connector on the cable. In this case, purchasing a gender changer solves this problem. A gender changer is a device that enables you to join a port and a connector that are both female or both male."

You can call me whatever you want. Horny. Dirty minded. But I still find it hilarious. This is the closest thing as sex education for the geeks and nerds. It explains the basic human anatomy. Guys have penises. Girls have vaginas. And it even tells us, which goes where. Ha-ha. After reading this, I truly understood what people meant when they say they are "turned on" or the experience was "electrifying". Ha-ha, I guess the metaphor came from electronic devices.

Oh, in the other paragraph, its explains about homosexuality. Seems to me, they're pretty open to that idea. There "gender changer" is probably similar to transexual. Ha-ha. "Purchasing a gender changer solves this problem." Yes, do a gender reassignment surgery, and you'll be allowed to marry. Or pack up and move to states that allows gay marriages. Miss California and Perez Hilton can debate all they want about it. The gizmos are on Perez's side. There's another detail that I just noticed; the book title suit it well - too well. We really are "discovering computers", complete version.

Gosh, this book are suprisingly interesting. I didn't expect to find this sort of information. I'm going to continue reading, just in case I find something else similar. I wonder what they wrote about input & output. Or viruses.

Vain Attempts

Have you even been in a situation where you are needed to focus, but your mind seems to wander elsewhere, refusing to focus on what's important? In the back of your mind, you know what your priorities are. You have to do this, this and this. The whole list. Yet, you can't seem to find the force to do it.

I do. More often than you know. And I hate it when it happen. Every time when it does, I'll hate myself for letting myself suffer the consequences. I knew what will happen, it happened before. So, why do I keep letting myself down? I'll be angry with myself, I'll lose self-confidence, I'll be facing whatever the consequences are. The feeling of regrets. And of course, my parents' nagging and lecturing. It all can be avoided, if only I'm strong enough.

Weak. That's what I am. Weak. I can't even fight with myself, let alone fight with others. Often I wonder, will I survive in the real world? I live in a bubble, created by my family. I always try to break the bubble; to step outside the invisible line; to touch, feel, smell, hear, taste things that I am sheltered from. I'm still trying. But the little voices in my head is having doubt, why would I want to leave the bubble? Am I out of my mind? It's so comfortable in here, with nothing to worry about. Everything been taken care of. Why do I want to suffer alone outside? What is wrong with me?

Maybe I am crazy. I can't even force myself to study for my exam this Saturday. My mind can't focus on the notes I have, the letters in my textbooks, the terms used in my Political Science course. All it can think about are Guitar Hero in Feizal's bachelor pad, my red Sony Vaio and pink Sony PSP, my top friends in my Sony Ericsson, whatever show on TV, and my mum's Honda Stream. Oh, and the Rockstars' Diet which consists of Yo-yo Ice and cupcakes. As a student, the only tasks in my job description are study and submit assignments. Even to do those two simple things, I found difficult. Now, do you believe I can survive?

I can.

I will.

One day.

I know I will.

I will not stop trying.

I have you.

That should be more than enough to keep me from losing hope.

Don't stop believing.

Guitar Heroes

Not in the mood to write.

Woke up when the Sun is above my parent's roof, literally.

Mum suddenly felt like taking my niece, Cerys, out for a bite to eat. So, I sent a message to Vivienty, asking her who to ask permission from. Found out she's still in town!

Went to Pizza Hut in City Mall. Did a little shopping too.
Stop by at Aunt Mia's place. Cerys & Ezzri got along and played together. Kids. They can play together without speaking in the same language. If they can watch and understand "Pingu", they definitely can understand all other languages. The only adult I know who can understand "Pingu" is Intan.

FYI: Cerys can't speak Malay. Well, maybe only a few words.
Dropped Mum off at home before heading to Viv's place.

Followed Viv to send Mel to his music lessons before heading to Yoyo Cafe.

Rocked Guitar Heroes at Feizal's place. It's my first time. I definitely rocked!

Eclectic BFF in 1 Borneo

It's been a while since I last got together with my best friends, Feera & Soneea. So, today, we finally able to meet up with each other. The only one missing in the equation is Eja, of course. She's still in her campus in UNITEN, Selangor. She was so devastated when we sent her our pictures we took together today.

We have been out all day. I went to pick Feera up from her place in Petagas, before meeting up with Soneea in Star City around 1 in the afternoon. Gosh, I didn't even realize that I missed them so much. The Bollywood-drama-magnet Soneea Ezza. The punk-rock commitment-phobe Nurafeera.
Since there's nothing interesting in Star City, we can't think of any place else worth for our time wasting activities in Kota Kinabalu, apart from 1 Borneo. Well, we'd go elsewhere if the other choices have less illegal immigrants messing around. I have nothing against Pilaks. But if only they are able to behave themselves, I don't mind at all being around them. You know what's worst? I can't even differentiate Pilaks youngsters with Sabahan youngsters. Not just that they dress like those Pilaks, they even behave the same ways. Gosh, choose a better role models please!
Anyway, we had lunch in the food court, because we can't make up our mind where we want to eat. Then we went into almost every shop in the mall and have our own fun. Mostly, I tried to push Feera into more girly attire. We were literally ignoring all the people around us, and just do (and say) everything that crosses our minds. Three crazy girls on the loose.

I forgot to mention the events that were held in 1 Borneo today. There's an audition for "Pilih Kasih" reality show and "Bang! Bang! Boom!". "Pilih Kasih" is a Rosyam Nor's audition for wannabe actors and actresses. While "Bang! Bang! Boom!" is a Malaysian version of UK's "Just For Gags!", it's a prank show or something like that.

Soon, our legs gone weary of walking around the mall, twice! So, we decided to find a spot where we can hang out. Our version of "hang out" includes: beverages and great view. As girls, the view we all loves are, of course, the endangered species in Sabah. If you're thinking Orangutan or Bayau, I just want to say, Animals in a shopping mall? Seriously? If you're unaware, hot guys are listed as endangered species in Sabah. Or at least in our list. Ha-ha. We hung out at Dome. Not at its lot near FCUK. But in the North Atrium near the main entrance of the building. Where we can have a great view of the "Pilih Kasih" audition.

There was no hot guys (as expected, its near extinction), but it was hilarious. Bunch of inexperiences thick accent Sabahan trying their lucks. Thou, you have to give them credits for their guts. I won't have the nerve to do it. People are watching from every floor! And laughing at every go. I know, I'm one of them. Gosh, I thought there will only be youngsters trying their lucks, but there's adults too. Adults as in beliau-beliau, in the age range of 35 years and above.

Oh, Sabah may be running out of good-looking males. But the other parts of the world don't. While we were sitting down at Dome's, enjoying the show, a macho looking guy with Peninsular Malaysia's slang, who has been standing behind Feera to check out what's the commotion about, asked us what's going on. Yes, I have an awesome B.Y. Radar, I noticed him from the corner of my eyes. Of course, we answered him and and small chats a little before he joined the rest of his family. And obviously, us girls talked about him soon after he left. We thought we'd seen the last of him, but we were wrong. Around half an hour later, (yes, we sat there for nearly an hour) he's back, and he wasn't alone. He was with another drool-worthy guy, whom I assume is his brother. Gosh, I wished I made an effort to dress up a little. As usual, Soneea and I joked which will get which. Feera don't get to choose, because she's always in a relationship.

After a while, well, an hour to be exact, the show gone a bit gloomy. The hot guys already left. So, we left too. When we walked around, again, we realized, we should have invited those guys. Showing them around town, as excuse. Ha-ha. They may not be Sabahan, but they are the only hot guys we've seen the whole day. Imagine that. And we were in 1 Borneo. Pathetic. It's sad to be girls in this part of the world. And what's more pathetic is, we walked around the mall once more, in hope of running into the macho siblings. It's all in vain, I guess they went back to their hotel. And we're not that desperate nor pathetic enough to look for them there. Ha-ha.

So, knowing that we won't be able to decide where to go if we left the building, we decided to watch a movie. Whatever movie showing next at the moment. "Bohsia: Jangan Pilih Jalan Hitam". For a Malaysian movie, it's a great one. You must go and see it. I certainly hope the female casts' parents or family members won't go and see this movie. They acted their part really well. And there are some scene that they should not see it. I would write my own review further more on this movie if it wasn't 1 o'clock in the morning.

After the movie, I sent them both home, before I pick my parents up at the airport. I love being home alone. Wonder when my parents going to be away again?

Bus Trip

As you may know, this week it's the first week of the final examination in UiTM and some other IPTAs. You'd expect the dramas that will be filling these weeks around the campus will be in some way related to the stress due to the examinations. I was wrong.

I was meeting my mom today for lunch, and to meet with the Campus' Deputy Director about the circumstances about my hair color. As usual, I waited for her at the Tangga Merah, which is nearer to my dorm room than the bus stop. After a short while, she arrived. As soon as I opened the door, her first word was "Bas kamu terbalik di depan." I was dumbfounded. And as she drove by the scene of the bus accident, which was between Tangga Merah and the junction to Cluster A & Cluster B. Indeed, the bus, not UiTM's, but T. U. T. (which stands for Tuaran Union Transportion) was toppled.

Here's some of the pictures.

I'm not sure about what actually happened. But by word of mouths, it is about the brakes dysfunctional. My theory is, the bus was heading up to the library. But due to the age of the vehicle itself, the engine couldn't handle going uphill and died. Unfortunately, the brake chose that precise moment to not cooperate. Since the road is curvy, the bus, which was going downhill in reverse, hit the sidewalk, and toppled to its side. Oh, before it toppled, it hit a few trees and a lamp post.

It is reported that no student was hurt. I'm not sure there were any students because it was on the way up to pick up the students. However, it is also said that one person was injured. I assume its the driver or the conductor.

Nice Guys Finish Last

I set Yahoo! as my homepage. Thus, whenever I online, I get to see what new around the world, or whatever interesting fact or topic featured for the day. Last night, there's a very intriguing one, it's about why good guys are not our (girls') first choice in finding a partner.

Why is it that good guys always lose to jackasses? Haven't us girls learn that these cocky guys can't be trusted and bound to hurt us in the end? Why they keep getting the girls? Why is it the main male characters in movies & TV shows are naughty, rebel, rule-breakers? Can you name a movie where the leading male character is a total square person? Even Jim Carrey's character in "Yes Man" became a rebel in the end.

I, myself, are just like one of the girls. My favorite male fictional characters are Edward Cullen from "Twilight" and Chuck Bass from "Gossip Girl". As you may know, they're the two dangerous guys in their own story. Edward is a vampire, while Chuck is.. Chuck Bass. I'm positively sure that I'm not the only one in love with these two characters. Heck! They have their own fan clubs all around the world. I want to mention a good guy character, and ask if he has his own fan club. But I can't seem to think of one.

I always use the reason "he's too nice" on guys. From the article, there's a few possibilities that a guy can be too nice:

#1 - He's so nice. He can only be friends.
A good friend is hard to fine. It is true that us girls want to be friend before we take it to another level. Sometimes after a while of dating, it turns to awkward phase, because you started off friends. You're bound to meet him everywhere, since you have the same social circle & all. Maybe you'll be able to recover and remain buddies. But is it worth the risks?

#2 - He's so nice. He's not challenging enough.
Just like some guys, girls love the thrill of the chase. Sometimes a little too much. We love to wonder, the element of surprise, the excitement of not knowing. "He likes me; He likes me not". The game is not a one player-game; its two-player. Just like the guys, we do like that we've won someone over, instead of him give himself to us. Things that are easily acquired, obtained, or maintained, without any effort or sacrifices, lack values. That's just human nature.

#3 - He's so nice. He'll always be there.
Yeah, we do take things for granted sometimes. They're always available, they'll do anything you ask them to. By doing so, they made themselves appear needy, desperate and insecure. Without realising it, they've stripped themselves of any value in our eyes. Being too eager to please, girls will conclude them as being the jealous and controlling type. We won't value them as much as they value themselves. We'll still look for someone more worthy, more confident, more valuable. We enjoys keeping them as friends, because in the back of our minds, we know we'll be able to turn them later. They're great as rebound.

#4 - He's TOO nice. You can't trust him.
Ha-ha. This is true sometimes. If you are just too nice, too perfect, it'll make girls suspicious. You see it in movies all the time. The guy comes into the girl's life, he's everything she wants, just absolutely perfect. Then he slowly turns into a psycho freak. We believe that everyone has a dark secret. Nobody's perfect. And you come to our life, perfect as ever, obviously we'll be snooping around for your skeletons in your shiny white polished closet.
